Playground CMU
Festival Producer, Marketing Manager
August 2018-Present
Playground is a festival of independent student work produced annually by the students in the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. Each year the festival is led by a small group of students known as the Playground Committee. From 2018-2019 I served on the committee, as the marketing manager. However, in 2020, my third and final year, noting a need to redistribute responsibilities, I created the position of Festival Producer. As Festival Producer, I continued to design and manage our branding, marketing and social media accounts. However, I expanded my responsibilities as Festival Producer to include overseeing the selection and curation process of the festival as a whole. In short, my role centred around marketing, curating, and archiving the festival.

When we began planning Playground XVIII our goal was to revamp the festival to focus our effort on unifying our community and supporting the artists and their art. We wanted to market the festival as something welcoming and warm with an emphasis on collaboration and togetherness. Once COVID hit, these goals were only galvanized as we shifted the entire festival online and expanded the footprint of the festival to last two weeks instead of the traditional one.
